To be read Tuesday 9/14

6 And God said, ‘Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.’ 7So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. 8God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

What do you make of this understanding of the sky? Don't know that this understanding is what we would find in our science books today. If so, what is God wanting us to gather from these verses?

Look up, the sky looks like a dome. The writer or writers of Genesis were writing about what they knew. Some think Genesis was written by Moses others believe it was written much later in the 10th to 6th century BC.
Does this dismiss the idea that Moses was a part of the mix? I don't think so. God may have whispered all of this to Moses, and as was the custom of the time, these stories were told over and over to each generation through time. And then, finally written down.
What is God wanting us to gather? That He is maker and owner of His creation that he has gifted to us. Maybe we need to think about that a little more often.

I am very curious also as to the use of the word "dome" in referenceing the sky? I must also take note of the change from heaven to sky. This completely changes the meaning of the text to simply a physical one, not a spiritual one. I believe they are inacurate verbiages for the text and should be changed back to their proper verbiages of firmament & heaven. Jesus did not ascend into the sky to sit at the right hand of his father, he ascended to his "fathers house" in heaven.

What ancient hebrew tells us is that at this time, everything was in a chaotic state so God seperated the atmosphere from the oceans. Remember, previously everything was "without form". This was the first step in taking that chaotic state and bringing formity into the universe.

Thus God was seperating his house from our physical house. He created the house for the future world. For our spiritual rebirth after death. And he also began the creation of the physical world we live in today.
