To be read Wednesday, Sept. 22

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God say, “You shall not eat from any tree in the garden”?’ 2The woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; 3but God said, “You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it, or you shall die.” ’ 4But the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not die; 5for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’ 6So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. 7Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.

here's a little tid bit of info that you might find interesting ..... the Hebrew word for crafty and the Hebrew word for naked are very similar, and so there is a play on words going on here....what to craftiness and nakedness have to do with one another?

What kind of doubt did Satan put in Eves mind to make her doubt Gods will and authority. Why did she think the serpent was credible, what a cunning spirit he is.

primitive root found in both crafty & naked: properly, to be (or make) bare; but used only in the derivative sense (through the idea perhaps of smoothness) to be cunning (usually in a bad sense) -- X very, beware, take crafty (counsel), be prudent, deal subtilly.

Throughout history, woman has always been called crafty & cunning, using her beauty to tempt man.

We see the fall of man, but where did this cunning & crafty serpent come from that tempted Eve? We know that God did not create evil: Isaiah 45: 7

So, what actually was the very 1st sin of ALL God's creations?

Isaiah 11:12; Isaiah 14: 12-14; Ezekiel 28; Matt 25:41; 2 Cor 11:3; Rev 12:8

This also gives me much deeper sense about the phrase: "pride goeth before destruction(the fall)".

Pslam 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.

Pslam 8:13 "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate.

The 1st sin of all was "pride" & it 1st appeared in Lucipher, the arch angel of God, his most beautiful angel when he turned against God for selfish pride.
